Well, it was a brutally cold night, around 7:10PM in the evening. I was driving home from an 11 hour day at work. I take this 2 lane road home everyday where the speed limit is 45. Traffic generally does 55. This road also has about 3 lights and I always seem to get them while they're red. I come to the second red light and a state police officer is in front of me. The light turns green and he takes off. I acclerate as normal, shifting at approx. 1900-2200 RPM. I start to notice he is really getting away so I figure, if I do the same speed as him, he can't pull me over for it. I downshift and get on it a little. I stay behind him and we're both doing about 65 steady. I realize I will eventually have to get over to the left lane so I do that now, being careful to still not get in front of him(so he doesnt pull me over, so pretty much, my front fender is at his rear.) He keeps looking over at me so I lightly ease off the gas down to about 60. Then, just by not paying enough attention, Im up to 65 again and pacing him. The next time he looks at me, he guns it. So once again I downshift and start to go. The next time I look down, we're doin 75! This continued until about 80 when we caught up with traffic. I wasnt doing anything but pacing him so it wasn't exactly a race, but it seemed like he didnt want me near him or something. Just thought it was kinda funny.

Even if he's cruising above the speed limit, and you're just following him.. he could still pull you over if he felt like it.
You're still breaking the law whether you're behind him or infront of him.
Cops out here now have both forward and rear facing radars. That can calculate moving speeds between cars. For both oncoming, and same direction cars. It calculates the speed of the cruiser itself through a sensor in the speedometer, and calculates the posistion of your car. So if he's doign 55mph steady, and you're doing 60mph behind him slowly creeping up on him, it'll give him a read out of you doing 60mph.
Sounds like he was just having fun... Cops do that from time to time too ya know. ;)

the no ticket thing only works if your state is a "R+P is the law" kind of state...

Good story......a few cops have a little fun every once in a while. I had a cop rev up at me at a redlight one night about 1 in the morning. I just opened the cutouts on his ass and snorted it a little. He laughed and when I closed them back off he asked me if "that truck was legal". I told him it depends on what day of the week it is. I would say it probably wasn't that night, due to the twisted open bottle of nitrous I had sitting on tap between the seats. Most Saturday nights it's not. :evillol:
I also have a buddy with an lt1 that's a cop. He's cool as shit, and never fails to have us a trunk full of beer he's gotten from kids that think its cool to drink and drive underage. Free beer is GREAT beer. He's also gotten us out of more trouble than you could possibly imagine.

well to me all cops are evil, but that's only because i've had nothing but bad experiences from them....
i know there are some good ones that are truly trying to help society, but it's hard to find them nowadays.
my dad had a cop flash the lights on him a few weeks ago when my dad was going 5 over...
turns out the cop wanted to know what he had done to the truck because it sounded"bad ass"

Hate to ruin you're fun, but there's certain calls the cops aren't allowed to use lights and sirens on. That was probably the case in your situation, hence him speeding and not wanting you near him. The only reason you weren't pulled over most likely was because he was busy with another call. I highly wouldn't reccomend doing that again.

Must be a cop... 10-94 = Call station by teletype
I thought that was funny. Out of all the codes to chose from, Call the station... :icon16:
EDIT: I looked it up by another department, 10-94 is Drag racing... forgot codes can change by jurisdiction. hehe.
