my 94 camaro with the V6 automatic has the ABS IN OP light on...If I read the code correctly it is 63 or 639, something about the right front ABS motor???
im not sure what that is...do I have to replace the wheel sensor or the ABS pump??
and dose anyone know where to get a pump at a fair price..
thanks

I have a 94 and had the abs inop light problem for over a year--brakes worked fine; sometimes it went off; would come back on at random. I check everything front and back.
then one day while browsing through manual electrical network diagrams noticed that abs inop light grounded through same circuit as the rear airfoil taillight (the middle one up high on hatch). replaced bulb for < $2 and never had abs light problem again.
wierdest car problem I think I ever had and actually solved.
worth the $2 to fix.
good luck

so you say you just had to replace the brake light on your hatch and it was fixed

that's interesting about your cruise control--when my inop light was on the cruise control did not work, when it went off, it did. after replacing the bulb, light stayed off and cruise control worked.
go figure.

Yea I know...Chevys are odd..:screwy: ..
I still need to know what error code 63 means...it says right front motor shorted to positive?????
what motor?
I have no idea what shorted to positive means...dose that mean theres a bad ground wire somewhere???
do they mean the sensor..
I checked all the fuses, replaced the ABS relay and tried jumping the sensor wire to close the circut..nothing worked..any ideas??
other then that its a great car for 12 yrs old and 221000 miles
go figure.

according to the chevy (gm) manual, page 6E3-A-115,
DTC 63 is "Bank 2 (right) heated oxygen sensor circuit (open circuit). not sure how you are getting an abs error--this is 1994 z28, right?

Hello, Have You Found The Problem Yet With The Abs Inop Light?
I Have The Same Problem. My Center Brake Light doesnt work either along with My Abs And Cruise Control.
A Buddy Of Mine From An Auto Parts Store Helped Me Wrap My Brain Around It. From What I Understand Is That If The Cruise Control Works And The Abs Doesn't, Then It's One Of The Front Wheel Sensors. If Both Abs And Cruise Control Are Out, Then It Should Be The Sensor On The Top Of The Rear-end.
I Bought The Sensor But Haven't Had A Chance To Get Under There And Swap Them Out.
I Was Hoping To Find Out For Sure From Others Before Installing Such An Expensive Part.

make sure the spark plug wire is not cable tied to the sensor.
chevy dealer did tune up and the abs light came on, don't know if they did it on purpose but i found the answer somewhere on internet

My ABS INOP light comes on once in a while in my 95 3.4V6, however cruise control still works (light on or off). Check the fuses under the hood and inside the car, Thats always a good start. Do you notice anything else happening before the light engages (like the "Low Trac" light coming on when hitting the brakes).

This is a good one. I started a posting a few days back about a similar problem. I actually did change one of the two brake lights in the spoiler, but I think I used a different wattage then the other one. Can this cause a problem with the ABS light?
The problem was that the "low trac" "brake" and "abs inop" light all flash at the same time....intermittently. Maybe I'll change the brake lights again for the hell of it using the correct wattage bulbs. The only problem is that there seems to be some type of noise (clicking) under the hood when the three lights pop up on the dash. I have been given a suggestion or two, but what is anyone else's take on this? I'd like to make the car right...it's not a bad looking car at 115,000 on the clock.

Its probably a front wheel hub assembly problem. The wheel sensor up there tend to mess up when they get old and will lead to misreading the correct speed and will set off the abs inop and brake lights cause they think that wheel is locked or not slowing down when the brakes are applied.

my 1997 3.8 v6 w 250000 miles has the abs inop light and will try the light bulb but I also have off and on the e brake light and low trac light but will turn off after a few minutes or if I hit a bump. Do ya'll know if this will go away with the same repair of the bulb?

I have a 1994 Camaro 3.4L and had the same problem with the ABS light being on and the cc not working. I replaced the bulbs in my third brakelight (both were dead), and the ABS light went out, but the cruise control still did not work. I think that might be a problem in the turn signal lever, though, not with a sensor. Just letting people know - seems to be true that replacing those bulbs fixes the ABS for just a few bucks! :)
