A friend of mine put gear fluid to fill up the clutch fluid....then he later found out that he was suppose to use brake fluid...

He has a haynes manual but it does not show him where he can drain it.. can anyone help or does anyone have a diagram?

i think its a 1992 explorer.

thanks

My 92's an automatic, but I think there should be a bleeder (just like on the brakes) near your clutch slave cylinder. Just flush the system (like any brake system) very good with brake fluid and you shouldn't have any other problems. Make sure to get any air out of the system as well

gear fluid is not compatible with brake fluid seals. youre going to have to change all the rubber parts in the system as oil swells brake fluid seals. if none of it made it to the slave, you might get away with the clutch master cylinder and that hose.
