88,88 stalling when hot

1988 delta 88 3.8 vin c 115k. previous parts replaced by me within the last two months,altenator, egr, fuel filter, battery.


After the car has run for 20 to 30 minuts it shuts off, no sputter just off. you will have to let it sit for a couple of minuts before it ill run again, but will shut down again with in a minute or two. the ecm is storing no codes there "appereas" to be good fuel pressure.

Does it have spark when you attempt to restart and /or fuel pressure at the rail, this is basic preliminary diagnostics.

I still have great fuel pressure but no spark

Ok now you need to check for injector pulse also, if none you can be pretty confident the crank sensor or the wiring to the icm from the sensor is bad, a scan will tell you if there are cranking rpms, if none you are back to the ckps or wiring.

If I recall right, the ICM when it goes bad will malfunction when an engine heats up to operating temperature. You could always remove it and have it tested at autozone or o'riely for free...

Faulty Crank Position Sensor. If you replace it the stalling problem should go away.

replaced the crank sensor. hasent stalled yet.

well that problem is fixed but now its showes a code 41.:screwy: man im about sick of this thing.

Code 41 is the crank position sensor. Clear the code and see if it comes back on. May be on just because it reads a new sensor or registered the code when the sensor was unplugged. Just remove the battery terminal for a few minutes, this should take care of the code.
