Help?! Weird Noise from Dead Stop

I have a 2000 Silverado, 67000 miles, 5.3 in it and I have this strange noise that comes from what sounds like the rear but it is actually coming from right about the middle of the truck. When I am at a stop light, stop sign or just stopped and then start to accelerate there is a sound, almost sounds like a dog bark for just a split second and you don't hear it again unless I stop and accelerate again. I can accelerate fast or slow, does not matter. Nothing feels like it is slipping, runs great other than this sound. Great power everything, just that dag gone "Bark" noise.
If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks,
Dougger

I know what noise your talking about my 88 and 96 both do it. I think it's a common Chevrolet rear end noise.

Yeah, I think you are talking about the *PANK* driveline noise. You might chech your U-joints on your driveshaft.

I had the same issue just recently. Dealer said they pulled drive shaft, sanded rust off yoke and greased splines. No more squawking or barking while pulling out from a stop. I just don't understand why the rust on a new truck. I was also told a few months back that my truck had a nickel plated yoke........go figure. My truck is a 2005 and only 7500 miles, and has the famous thrashing and clanging thru 1-2-3 and 3-2-1.
