I'm not sure about the 2500hd, but on my 1500 4x4 you need to remove the top headlight section. There are 2 "L" shaped metal bars on the top rt and left side of each headlight section. To remove the L-shaped bars, just twist them toward the front of the truck and then pull each one straight out. After you do this, the headlight assembly comes out.
Now that you can see the lower assembly, you just remove the light from the rear of the assembly and replace with a new one.
I forgot to mention that you can remove the lower assembly for easier bulb replacement by releasing a plastic grey clip located on the outside edge of the outside-most bulb on both the right and left daytime running light assemblys.
I also wanted to add that I had a heck of a time trying to find out what kind of bulb to replace DRLs with. I ended up taking the bad bulb to WalMart and getting a new one by looking at the part number.
Hope this helps.
