okay so i hope some one can answer my question. i have a 89 civic. my temp gauge has always been acting funny. what happens is it reads the temp fine but once it hits normal operating temp it wont go any higher. i can sit and idle for 10 minutes and the gauge wont rise. i dont think these aluminum engines cool that good. i replaced the temp sending unit and it still does the same thing. some one please help.

lol, probably because your fans are kicking on & your car wont get any hotter,
I have my fans hooked up to a switch, because after swapping the motor the fans never worked again (relay),
but I can sit in a drive-thru for 10 minutes & my temp gauge never go up(if im not turning my fans on),
the temp gauge should stay right below half way--well,at least mine does,
its not a problem,
if your fans dont work, try letting your car sit for about 30 minutes & see if it heats up,
but if they do work, the car will never get hot,
hope I answered your question.
