pop then brake problem?

SO I was driving today (about 35mph) I was litterally 20-30 feet from an intersection and a guy pulls out and blows through a stop sign. So I slam on my brakes and lock up my wheels skid a bit to miss him (went off to his side). In the process there was a bump in the road and my passenger side front tire hit it. When it hit I heard a pop. I thought at first I popped my tire.
So I get out and check it, no tire pop. I think oh not a problem and then I go on my way. Well now when ever I brake medium hard It squeels. The pads have about 50% life left so it's not the squeeler. What could the pop and then squeeling be related to?

Is there any kind of excessive wear on your rotor? Any grooves or marks pointing at a stone or something being wedged into your brake pad?

Yeah take your wheel of and check, if you don't see anything obvious it could ve your bearings are messed up and they only make noise when under the pressure of the brakes.

oops should have posted that i did have the tire off thats how i saw the pad wear. I can't figure out what it is.. I thought maybe i glazed over the pad or something... Everything seems to clear so i don't see what could be squeeling. I hit everything I could with some oil. Hopefully that will clear it up..
So the popping can be a shock? Is that normal? I've actually never had that happen before (hard to believe with Pennslyvania roads)?
should have added rotor looks just fine.

You know, on my friends Honda, when he pressed the breaks once too hard and skit, his brake pad poped and broke in two. It did not fall off anything like that but made is really nasty noise when he tried to stop. He though that hos rotors were bad but when we took out the pad I saw it and we replaced the pad fixing the problem. But it can also be a shock too like the others said. Good luck finding the problem and fixing it.

Yep, shocks can pop. No, not normal. Bad. My crapolla has a strut in the rear worn so bad it sounds like it's gonna fall out. :D I suppose yours could have broken. Check the strut and the mount.

It still drives straight like it did before hand. The squeeling after the oiling isn't as bad. I gave it another shot going to see how it is tomorrow.
Also went and replaced the pad. I had it off yesterday and it looked fine but when I took it off today there was like a hairline crack down the center it seemed. I drove after ward and it still squeeled so hopefully the oil will clear up the rest.
Such a freaky thing to happen. But thanks for all the clues.
