Recently after a steady rain the passenger side floorboard/floormat was soaked. I noticed water trickling from under the dash area. Any suggestions?

What year and model Grand Prix?

You probably have bad passenger side cowling seals or bad seal on the windshield. The water is dripping down the cabin side of the firewall. A cabin air filter will also help seal out water because most GPs did not come with them. The HVAC intake is wide open to the elements.

Also, make sure the HVAC drain hose by the blower motor is not plugged up.

I had that problem about 2 years ago on my 99 GP, check the cabin air filter. A piece from there was not properly adjusted and instead of the water running through this canal, it was going straight into my passenger side. Make sure to check the filter and adjust the seal around it

Thanks for the advice. This is a 2000 Grand Prix SE. Where and how would I find this Cabin Air fllter (or where it is supposed to be) and is fixing this a job for a do-it- yourselfer or should I just take it in?

Here is a procedure that shows location and installation.

The seals can be done DIY. With the passenger side cowling plastic cover removed per the procedure you will be able to see the seals for inspection.

If don't have the cabin air filter, one from a '97 and up Regal fits. Cost ranges from $10.00 to $35.00 depending on brand (AC Delco, Fram, Purolator). I get the generic one at Autozone for $10.00. Good luck!

I am having this same problem on my 1998 GTP, everytime it rains i stuff towels on that side and kinda up under the dash. It sucks, the first time it did it was during a real bad rain and i had a puddle on my passenger side and had to go use a vaccum at a car wash to get it out. But yeah hopefully the filter helps

The seal under the cowling gets bunched up and allows water to run in. It needs to be reshaped and put back in correctly and problem fixed.
