I need to get the fan off the motor to install a new motor. You need to get the fan off to get the unit out of the compartment. How do you get the fan off the motor?

I have had the motor off, undone the nut holding the fan on, but the fan still doesn't come off. Being afraid to break it, is it just stiff or is there a trick.

Have an assistant hold just the fan, (with the motor shaft facing up) with both hands. Using a small punch and a hammer, strike the motor shaft. Keep feet clear when motor falls off, it hurts. ;) The fan is stuck to the motor shaft, very common.

Ive had to change the blower motor on both my 89, and 94... the trick I used is to take some PB Blaster, or Liquid Wrench or some other type of penetrating oil and soak the area where the NUT holding the blower wheel the the motor shaft...... let set a bit ,, then use 2 screwdrivers 180 degrees apart (opposite sides of blower wheel and start prying with even pressure..
It may be possible to tap end of shaft w/nut loosened but not removed, or Damage to threads may result.. good luck!

Thanks so much. Once the blower motor arrives I will have at it once again. I was worried about breaking the fan, as it did not want to come off.

in my '89 I replaced 2 times the blower motor, but now, I drilled a 1/4" diammeter hole in the upper back end close to the copper or bronze roller bushing that usually gets stuck by lack o lubricantion; and poured two drops of mottor oil every month and that is it, no more problems, only a couple of motor oil drops maybe from the oil meter stick.
