That sucks. It goes to show that locks are little deterrent when it comes to confronting someone who really wants in. Clearly it was an older, more determined shitbag who did it, as evidenced by the damage done. It's a little after the fact at this point, but if I can offer some advice: don't even bother trying to put anything expensive into your car, because cars are pretty much a money pit. I've learned to give up caring about what my car looks like, since anything I do in the nice weather is ultimately undone thoroughly by the New England winter, anything I would do mechanically is ultimately compromised by frost heaves and pot-holes, and I refuse to install anything more than a decent head unit, since it's not unknown for cars where I live to suffer broken windows/stolen goods with somewhat troubling frequency.

Remember, for the many good people who's compliments might make your investment worthwhile, there's always that one truck on the highway who's ignorant driver didn't bother cleaning the ice sheet off the roof of his trailer so that it wouldn't dislodge and damage a car behind him (it happened to my sister), one town or city who'd rather spend its money on a politician's paycheck or unneccesary pork-barrel projects than road repair, or one immoral *insert racial slur/profanity here* who won't hesitate to destroy/steal something you've worked hard for in order to further their own ends.

I couldnt agree more. the value of the stuff taken is about 500 and to replace the door shell and get it repainted is another 600-700 so im thinking of just getting a new car, the engine is going out so it probably would be a bad idea

Good point.
A buddy of mine had his stereo ripped off a few years ago.
It turned up at a local pawn shop a few days later.

Those particular pawnshop bastards will take anything.
Seriously, who would pay $50 for an $800 stereo from a creep who just walks in and NOT know its stolen.

The cops are supposed to come later this week and dust it, but i dont know if the'lll find anything. The dumbass put shoe prints all over the side of the door (thank god i hadnt washed it in a while) trying to get leverage. so we'll see. BTW im careful about blasting it around because i know crap like this happens but i think they knew what they were going after

Pisses me off when i read about anything being stolen. I work hard for everything i have and to have some poor POS come and just break in and steal it makes me want to kill them. I have the pager alarm on my new truck and the siren is set to silent so if anyone break in only i know because the pager goes off and nothing happens outside until i start beating the shit out of them.

I would recommend it to anyone. Its a Compustar. I made sure not to have any moron at bestbuy or a big retail store do the install. Went with an actual car audio/alarm specialty store.

id been thinking about getting an alarm once i started working again. I had my system fully done for all of 9 months. YAY! So the print-lady came today and she thinks whoever did it wore gloves because it was all smudges, but i wont know for 2 months! so now i have to try and bend the friggin door back so its at least drivable.

I so wish i heard them doing it, i have fantasies about chasing him down the street with a 2x4 or a piece of piping!:naughty:

atleast those morbidly horrid fantasies are calming to some extent. and you're better prepared for next time. as for bending it, take it to a local shop, i dunno how good you know pple there, but over here, i had some guy run a stop sign and almost total the car. i had to replace the doors from the junkyard, but needed to get new side bars and other renforcement stuff, but i told the guy the story and the fact that the idiot had no insurance so i got no money out of it, and he did most of it really really cheap. try explaining what happened, they might knock off a bit for you. just a thought.

Dude that sucks. I am sorry to hear about that. If someone jacked my system I would be pissed off. I have one of the pager alarms as well and they are great. I was outside one day standing by my car talking to some one and I had it activated. I kicked the tire and the damn thing went off. I highly suggest it to anyone that has a larger amount of money invested in the car. Anyway, best of luck to you. Hopefully they find the dumbass responsible for doing this and get him a chance to have a heart to heart with bubba.

Whats wrong with the people at Bestbuy who install it for you? Are they not experienced or what? Just wondering because I thought they had to be certified or something.
