2000 Camry Brake Light

Hello all!

I own a 2000 Camry and am having a problem wiht my rear right brake light. It seems that whenever I press the brake, the light will not come on. But strangly enough when I press the lock button on my remote the light comes on. I have deduced that this problem is probably due to a fuse box shortage. So now I am looking at about a billion fuses trying to figure out wich one goes from the brake to the back right light as I do belive this is the problem with the car. Though I am open for any suggestions.

If anyone can help me out wiht this fuse box issue I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks! :)

Welcome to the AF!

Check your switch on the brake pedal arm.

Check the bulb. These bulbs may be double filament bulbs; one for the brake light (usually brighter) and one for the parking/tail lights. One filament may be out while the other filament is still intact. You can even swithc the 2 rear bulbs as a free test. If the problem now moves to the left side, you have varified it was the bulb.

Thanks for the replies!

Brian: Where would this switch be located? Directly on the Pedal arm? or further up into the dash?

Mike: Alright I will try that out, do I just remove the bulb housing from inside the trunk or is there some other things I must do?

Again, thank you for the help!

It is usually from inside the trunk. Your owner's manual should show you how to access the lights. They usually show how to change out all the common bulbs. Take a look.
