hi, my name is mike i am a soldier stationed at fort hood texas. i am from north carolina, and kinda new to the killeen area. i am currently with the 4th infantry division in iraq but i have a question reguaring my civic back home.ok here's the deal, i got a 92 civic dx hatch that its motor is due for replacement. i am looking for a knowledgeable shop that isn not going to charge me an arm and a leg to swap the motor out and will do the job right. i have quoted 2 shops in austin and killeen both of them are saying 4500 or more!! to do the swap. i am going to buy a front sir clip and have it sent over here to the states and just remove the parts off of it to put on my car. i am wanting to spend maybe a thousand on swapping the motor and all but i seriously doubt i will even get touched for this offer. i am willing to drive wherever i need to go to drop the car off(once i get back) i have had an offer from a friend back in north carolina to do it for 1200 but the 2 day drive is enough to kick anyones ass espc going through atlanta and dallas fort worth. if anyone has an idea of who might be willing to do this swap let me know. i would love to help on this to learn to do it myself but another kid on the way is going to take up a majority of my time once i get back. till then yall take it easy and i appreciate any info. p.s. the more reputable the shop the better.
