My friend has a 93 civic lx. His battery is not charging, the car will just run the battery dead, he has bought 2 diffrent batteries, and a brand new alternater but no luck. The battery light is NOT on either...

Any ideas?

You have only done the obvious things. For instance, have you put a voltage meter on the battery with the engine running? It should read about 14 to 18 volts indicating a charge going to the battery. If there is the charge going to the battery, the next question is whether the battery is then being overcharged and thus killing it. Usually in that case there is a smell of spoiled eggs released. I assume the voltage regulator is in the alternator. Check to see if the wiring is connected securely and without any corrosion. The starter I assume is working just fine but I would follow the cables to check every connection. Also, with the car off, check to see if the battery light works and lights when you turn the key to the on position. Lastly, with the car off unhook the positive battery cable and with it darkened slightly, touch the cable back on the terminal and note the spark. There should be a small one for the clock and other memory hog components like the radio. A larger spark in wrong. Lots of things to look at but the problem will turn out to be simple.
