I have a 92 s10 blazer 4.3L. i have had this car for 5 years and have lived without an "accessory" position on my ignition. ya know to turn on the stereo w/o putting the car in "run" position. i have installed a pioneer CD player since, which i guess is irrelevant besides the fact now i want to listen to my radio w/o my car on. the user's manual says that turning the key backwards puts it in the accessory position. but man, i pushed and pushed and that key aint goin backward short of snapping in two. does anyone have an older s10 with an accessory position. am i the only one that cant listen to my stereo without my car running? any input would be..greatly appreciated

Try moving the steering wheel back and fourth while you're turning the key backwards and see if that works. If not, you can pick up a new cyliner for abuot 10 bux and get it rekeyed to your existing key for about 15

on my 91 right behind the key cylinder there is this little black lever. anytime i need to shut truck off or just use the acces., i have to push down on that lever and then turn backwards. do you not have such a lever on your 92? if not it is preety easy to change out cylinders(if that is the problem). you wont be able to use the same key though. youll need the key with the new cylinder.

I don't know if this aplies to yours but on mine which is a 92, I have to push in on the clylinder or key and at the same time turn back on it for the acc to work. Hope this will work on yours, if not maybe the ignition switch ( the actual electrical part where the wires hook up ) which is located under the dash on the column, may need to be adjusted for it to work, its not hard to do, just a little time and patience, anyway hope this helps.

Are you 5 speed?

With automatics it's push the key in and turn back.

In the begining mine was tough but has freed up with use. Yours is probably the same way
A squirt os wd40 in the cylinder might just help free it up a little. I wouldn't want to use an oil that will plug anything up in there

yeah i have the 4x4 auto, 92'. i have tried pushing in while turning back and like i originally said thatsucker will not go. OverBoard Project; wd40 interests me, where exactly should i spray it? into the keyhole??? Thank you all for the inputs.

Into the key hole, but don't use much. Just a quick squirt, and then try working the key around. If it doesn't start to free up try another quick squirt, and let it soak in a little

Yours should be the asme as mine, being 4x4 auto. So it's suposed to be pushed in and turned backwards.
