I bought JDM tail lights for my 96 cav, now i've never done tail lights before so i have a couple questions, first of all the outside right and left sides, when i take them out of my car has a big bulb and a small bulb but the jdm lights only has 1 spot for any bulb to go in, also the inside lights don't seem to have threads so how will they connect in?

The Toyo tails have a seperate blinker bulb from the brake light bulb, in OEM Cavalier lights the brake light bulb and blinker bulb are the same bulb. You will have to rewire some stuff and cut a wire in the steering column.

Here ya go, detailed instructions, same one I used for my Scion tailight conversion since I ran into the same 1 bulb vs. 2 bulb setup.

after taking a closer look on ebay i see the lights I bought listed as JDM and black altezza lights, so to clear things up these are the lights I got, and I don't understand the need to cut wires in the steering column?

Fine then. The best way to wire them is to throw them away and get some that dont suck.

psycho, I didn't ask for your bullshit, I asked for an answer to two specific questions, next time you have nothing to say don't say it.

LTZ couldn't i just unwire the second bulb (marker light) and tape it up at the back, thats what a mechanic friend told me to do and it makes sense, what does it matter which end it's disconnected at?

And yet, I still have nothing to say. Other then you should ditch those and get some toyo tails with the toyo tail wire setup.

hey faroutguy, can it....how the hell do Toyota tails fit on a Cavalier...by the way i think that me and PsychoJJ have been around long enough to whore your thread!

I agree that you should go w/ the OEM look.....

Because the japan toyota cavalier is just that....a toyota cavalier. Same thing as a chevy but with subtle differences like the tails.

I don't care how long either of you guys have been around, I don't care what you think about my lights, I bought these because obviously I want to use them, now as I said back off if your not going to answer my questions ok, It's MY car I'll do what I want with it, and if I had wanted your opinion I would make a thread called opinions on JDM lights...

Everyone chill out. Schister and Psycho, he did NOT ask for your opinions, he simply asked a wiring question. So either answer it, or dont reply.

And yes, there are JDM Toyota taillights for a Cavalier.

Faroutguy,

I too cannot help with the wiring, but I will be very curious to hear your experience. I will be buying the exact same lights for my 99 cav and am really curious on how easy the installation is.

I checked on mine and there is only one light a 3157 for the outside part. Sorry I cant help with that part.

yea, i was told by a mechanic all i have to do is take the one bulb out and tape it up to prevent water from getting in there, so it should'nt be to hard at all
