92 Marquis problems

My 92 Marquis starts fine, idle is great and smooth. after a few miles, the car will buck slightly. If I get on the gas, it will stop.

I recently had the car to the shop where they put in a used MAP sensor.

The check engine light pops on, but then goes off. Does the 92 store that code?

Any have any ideas of whats going on? Could it be the trans?

My 91 had 2 problems with bucking, bad plug wires and later on a bad MAP sensor. Codes should be stored if the CEL light came on.

How long are spark plug wires good for? Mine are two years old.

Spark plug wires should be checked/ changed right at 2 years or around 30,000 miles, so it'd probably time to check them out! If you can, drive to Autozone, they will scan your car free of charge.

I think Autozone only scans 96 and newer.

Kinda depends on where you got the wires also. I replaced mine with the top of the line NAPA wires and they have been on for about 10 years. These replaced the factory wires that had bad boots. I also only use NAPA or the OEM wires, the ones from places like Autozone have been junk.
Take a look under you hood in the dark of night and see if you see any sparks flying around, you can also take a spray bottle and gently mist the wires to see if the engine acts up.
