Ok ive had a cooling system problem for a while now, and finally yesterday I had the water pump, radiator, and thermostat all replaced and brand new. Well, the car's temperature is nice and stable now, but all of a sudden the car is running REALLY sluggish. Its like when i push the petal the car has barely any acceleration, my RPM goes way up to like 4, and the car gets kind of loud. Could this be my belt?

Well If The Car Is Getting High Rpms It Could Be A TransMISION Problem.

The car seem to not want to accelerate at all, and it making like this vrroom vroom vroom sound.

Sounds like a classic case of automatic transmission failure. Does it go in reverse? Probably the forward clutch in the transmission is slipping due to wear or damage. Check the fluid, it should be clear and bright red or orangish-red if it's never been changed. If it's cloudy, dark, or burned smelling, it's time for a rebuild.

if it ran before you had the radiator replaced, I would check your trans fluid levle.....maybe the shop didnt refill it to the proper level...I also use LUCIS TRANSMISSION ADDITIVE in my 1994 Camaro...220000 miles and still running strong!!

Good Luck

Sigh. this is absolutely unreal what this car is doing to me. It just gets out the shop. 600 dollars to take care of my cooling system. I drive the car around 1 day and now it looks like the transmission has went. When I put the car in gear and push on the petal the wheels dont even turn. This is absolutely ridiculous. Everytime I fix something on this car something else almost immediately always goes on it. I just cant get on my feet with this car.

Look at the bright side. By the time you're done, you'll have a new car!

Ok question for everyone. When I tried to drive the car last night and it wouldnt move it was EXTREMELY cold out. Even my door was frozen shut and I had a very hard time opening it. Could I have had a transmission line or wire or pipe or something really frozen? Or a problem with something else being really frozen? Cause when I went out to check the car out this morning it seemed fine. Then I checked the trans fluid and it was low so I put about half a bottle in and now the car seems to be fine.

Well now I just took the car out for a ride to see how it was and its driving weird again. When Im at a stop and I start to accelerate the car seems really weak, then when i pick some speed up it doesnt seem to want to change gears. This is ridiculous i wish i knew these cars were pieces of crap before i bought it. Ive spent thousands on this car keeping it on the road and its one problem after another. This car is screwing up my job and school.

When you checked the fluid level in the trans, the car was running right?
Did you take a look at the coolant to make shure it looks like a 50/50 mix?

I know its hard, but try to relax, take a brake. I own an 89 with the 2.8 and I have had a lot of problems too, but I have also learned alot about cars more about cars and Ive had a lot of fun. I am in college and have been trying to deal with a big problem myself for over a month now(see blowing gauges fuse...please help). I have owned my camaro for over 4 years and have considered selling many times(beleave me). I could own a newer car with better MPG and fewer problems, but I like the way my camaro looks, handles, sounds, and drives. Try to remember that any and all used cars have problems, but you have to like what you drive, otherwise, why would it be worth fixing?
When you are rested, think about all the symptoms of the problem and be as dicriptive as possible when you post them... for example, "making like this vrroom vroom vroom sound"...do you mean the engine keeps reving or ideling roughly? and when does it happen? When you are slowing down, stopped, ideling, changing gears(which gears)...???
What collor is your tranny fluid? Does the problem happen when the car is cool (havent driven long...first ten mins or so) or when the car is warm?
Do you have the AC or Defroster on when problem occurs?
These are things we need to know to try and help you.

Well the vroom sound when Im accelerating, its basically sounding like the engine is trying really hard but just has no power. The rpm get up to around 3-4 and Im up to past 40 before the car finally changes gears. when im at a full stop and accelerate the car feels very weak getting back up to speed. The engine idles at like .5 rpm. The trans fluid was dark and really low when i checked it, but then i put fluid in and its still acting up. It does the same thing whether the car has been running awhile or if i have my heat on or whatever. The car runs really rough and shakes. when I go out to try to start the car after its been off for a few hours It takes a few tries before it kicks over, and some of the time when I turn the key i hear this drilling sound. If i try to start the car up within like an hour of it running for a little while it starts right up.

within the past few weeks the car has received new starter, battery, spark plugs, air filter, water pump, radiator, thermostat, my fluids are full. i just dont know..

I am fairly certain that the tranny is not the problem(mabe the govenor, but I doubt it) because most of these problems cant be related to the trans, so you can check that off the list.:grinyes:

*Next you should replace the fuel filter and PCV valve, and check for vacuum leaks...The problem might not be the fuel filter or PCV valve, but either of them could be contributers to the problem and are inexpensive to replace...if they arent the problem, atleast you will be able to check tham off the list.
*Next item to check is the MAF sensor(mass airflow sensor). They are too expensive to replace if they are not the problem, find someone in your area who will let you use their MAF sensor for a few mins...take yours out, plug theirs in, and drive for a few mins. If that isnt the problem, put your MAF back-in, check that off the list, and be happy that you didnt waist a minimum of $200. :)

Let me know if those things didnt fix the problem, because I have other ideas, just dont want to confuse you with too much at once.

BTW: Has your car been overheating?

BTW: Has your car been overheating?

It was, until I just had the radiator, thermo, and water pump replaced.

Also today I was driving and while in a trafficy parking lot the car was realy loud when it was dropping into gear

malletslinger

Do you mean it got loud after it down shifted, or the engine got louder(reved up) while shifting? or do you mean you heard a loud 'clank' noise?

Have you started checking those recomendations I made yet? Have you checked your tranny fluid level since you added fluid? Does your car have any leaks?
Is your engine cooling fan electric, or does it have a clutch? (Just making shure.)
Does white or black smoke come out of your tailpipe?

I am having the same problem. Only I have a '96 Cam. with 5 speed manual transmission. It has a hydraulic clutch. I could still drive it, until today. Now there is almost no power whatsoever and a high-pitched whining sound. Good times.

:nono: You really shouldnt post on old threads like this when they havent been used for a while...it has been a month and a half since the last posting and unless the person who started this thread posts an update or an other question about this problem, then it should be considered a dead thread... If you are having a problem, you should start a new thread...

Also, Welcome to the forum Savant :grinyes:
