How much horsepower can you run on stock internals on the 420a motor on the 98 eclipse GS?

Hahn Racecraft says 275 without incident. The general opinion seems to be around 300. Do your own search next time.

I agree, once you hit 200 hp it's time to start thinking about upgrades if you are going to continue to try and squeeze more power out of that weak POS we call the 420A.

This motor was not built for power, so a 35-40% increase in hp on a stock motor without having to upgrade is not all that bad. It's no 4G63. :)

He's right 200 hp is very very good for a 420a motor. The non turbo Eclipse's are not made to withstand "hard driveing" thats why all u hear about left and right is trannys going out on N/T Eclipse's on the turbos u dont hear this as much. They were more built for fast looking luxary.
