civic dx

i might get a civic dx, 97 i think, its a four door. i was just wondering about the engine, and parts that are available for the car. first of all, does the dx come with a vtec engine?, and which engine code is it? i'll eventually swap in a new motor, hopefully a b18, also, is there jdm parts available for it??I also need to the the body code or whatever, kind of like ek4 but for the four door version. is there good aftermarket support for this car? any help would be great...thanks

The DX has the D16Y7 engine, and it's not a vtec. There is a decent amount of aftermarket parts available for this engine, but if you really want to tune this car I would first recommend swapping with the B18 or at least a head swap from the D16Y8 engine (the engine on the EX models, which is vtec). As far as aftermarket support goes, it's a Civic, so i'll have a lot of support either way, so you should easily be able to find things that you want. Ebay is a great place to find both engine and body upgrades so do some research there first. Also try searching through past threads on this forum for other engine swap/aftermarket upgrade info.
