Also can anyone tell me where to get replacement Tamiya decals? I was working on a Team Phoenix Opel Astra and ripped a decal to shreds. The hobby shop I go to does not carry the replacement decals.

Nice work! It looks like you really put a lot of effort into it, as for replacement parts, you can also get them from HLJ, although it may take slightly longer.

It look very nice. If you want to put more details, nearly everything that is X18 on this kit is Carbon, so there is a lot of fun to have.

I have been to 2 different hobby shops here were I live and none of the carry a good carbon fiber decal.

Yea I read about that. Both tape masks are on the tape sheet but they just don't tell you where they go so I am not totaly sure which one goes where since they arn't even labeled.

The X18 on the wing is actualy painted black and not carbon fiber but that is one of the few places I have noticed that it is in fact paint.

Maybe. But the SMS template have this part, so it must be CF on one version of the car :D

You're right Vric,it pays to do your research as Tamiya's instructions detail the paint job how the car looked in another race (Suzuka 1000km I think), NOT Le Mans.
Here's mine showing how it should look..

Also note how the rear wing markings are (the red traingular bits), Tamiya don't tell you to use these either.

I know this is the No.3 car as well it is one of the pic in the link I posted above and it still looks like its painted. Im not sure what race it was taken after but it looks like it could have been in japan. Maybe it was a change between the two races,

Anyway, since both are accurate, if you have some carbon, just do it.. it look nice :D

Your engine looks awesome. Just goes to show that when it comes to racecars everything can change from day to day. So if you dont want to put the Carbon then don't, I think it looks just a good with or without.

I agree, great looking engine! And you have realized one of the important aspects of race car modelling. There are probably as many subtle variations as there are mechanics that worked on the cars!

sweet engine, my one is going into a slightly mroe "tame" toyota as a replica of one a friend made.

Both. That is from a project I did a few years ago but I am a CADD drafter so I can draw something up.
