Starter Issue

Well my starter is dead and i need to buy a new one i was just wondering how much its gonna cost (I have a 2000 4cyl)

I will be replacing the starter myself cause its just not that hard to do. I just need to know how much the starter would cost if anyone knows the cost off hand.

2nd quote was from checkers for $174.

they've got good prices from what i can tell, 170 or so then they give you money back when they get the old one from you, like 60$ or so on the second one on the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez that is outragous. I've found a 150 amp alternator for my 01 GT and it was 250.

He is talking about his starter...not alternator. Unless you were just posting that as a notice...i hope that was the case.

Everyone is entitled to a few of those...so long as you dont defend yourself you are OK. BTW, was that 150amp alternator a stock bolt up? If so, where did you get it.

NVM the assholes dont make just the solinoid like most smart companys i do have o buy a new starter altogether.

Ive taken out the starter and am waitn to get the $$ to buy the new one. Does anyone want me to make an instrution manual on how to change it your self cause its isnt all that hard.

Might as well. Is the setup the same for the manual and automatic? If my starter starts going Ill probably just clutch start my car if it costs an ass load to fix. Even though Im sure pop-starting isnt that great for the car.

can't be good on ur first gear pop starting, my problem would be my driveway is flat, so that's unlikely to popstart.

the starters werne't that much on the site, pretty cheap as a matter of fact, shouldn't be that big of a deal, that is if you do the work yourself

yah i did mine my self i have an RS so changin it was hell a easy i just put it in yesterday and the car runs fine now. All ouy need is a 8m to remove the heat sheild (2 bolts) and a 14m to remove the starter (2 bolts also) thats it. If your starter ever dies and you have a 4 banger just buy the part and install it yourself, it's really easy.
