car will not start. starter turns over fine, can hear fuel pump click on for 2-3 seconds. noticed teir is not to much pressure in fuel injection line. can it be fuel filter? where is f/f. would appreciate help.

Not much pressure isn't good enogh for a proper diagnosis, get the actual fuel pressure readings and confirm spark.

thanks, will check fuel pressure look for spark.

i'm having the same problem on my '89 lesabre... basically it turns over and over without a problem but makes no attempt to fire/start. i checked the spark and it is working correctly and i hear my fuel pump kick on for about 2-3seconds... how do i check fuel pressure? how do i check the fuel filter?

There is a Schrader valve ( a metal connector with a cap on it) on or near the fuel rail at the top of the engine. That is where you attach a fuel pressure meter. You could manually depress the pin inside it and some fuel would squirt out (but be careful).
The fuel filter is usually in front of the the rear tires mounted along either side of the car frame. Usually it is not checked, just replaced. Depending on the condition of the underside of the car, the connections to the fuel filter or the fuel lines and brake lines may be rusted, and complicate the job.

When I first got my car, it would not start. Cranked over, spark was good, fuel pressure okay - turns out the plastic timing gear was broken. Just another idea for you, may want to eliminate the easy stuff first, though.

way too much crap to try.... there really is - it could be so many things...
funny thing, went to start the car this morning - same problem.... pushed the pedal to the floor and it tried to start but stalled ... did it again, stalled once more (figured the engine was mildly flooded)... 3rd time though, it started up..... fired kinda roughly but continued to run and after about a minute i had a nice idle going :\ weird....but, car has been working great since :D
where is the plastic timing gear tho, for future reference?

The plastic gear is the gear that drives the cam shaft using a chain from the crankshaft. This is in "front" right side of the eninge behind a cover.

sadly the car stalled yesterday and i had to get it towed...
it'll turn over if u crank the key but makes no attempt to start :| i'm getting spark and i hear the fuel pump turn on so i'm figurin it has something else to do with the fuel... maybe the fuel filter/lines? i dunno............

Does the 89 and 88 have the same 3800 engine? If so i may be able to help.

Just in case i don't get back on here for a while, i had the same problem. The diagnosis; broken timing chain tensioner, bad coil pack and coil pack control module, broken cam sensor interuptor. car sat for a while so that could explain the coils and control module, but i found the interuptor and part of the tensioner in the oil pan.
