Friday The 13th

Just a few weeks ago I made a post about how much I love my car. Here's to 2006.

This morning on my way to work I watched a black cat walk across someone's lawn towards my lane of traffic. Immediately I realized what day it was. Friday the 13th. When the cat got to the asphalt, the damned thing looked directly at me (still a good 50 yards away) and turned around. I thought, "This day might not be so bad after all."
The body shop called me this afternoon and told me that my car would be ready after 11 days to replace a bumper. I got off work early. Traffic was light. That's where the luck ended.

When I got there they asked if I knew how much work had been done to the car in the past. He proceeded to tell me about the rear fender that had been drilled out and had a large dent pounded out. My rear turn signals had simply been glued back on when the vehicle was obviously hit in the rear. Upon removing tape from one of the doors, a strip of paint came off revealing a used door that had been put on at some time and some serious rust under the weatherstripping. He didn't mention, but I already knew that the car had been in a minor front end collision.

I drove home not wanting to be in my 2003 Nissan Maxima, but back in that smelly chevy cobalt rental.

...

Hello? Your luck didnt end:
- that blk cat didn attack
- a CAT didnt swat u & maxima
- Your Cat didnt drop on the street-pot
- Its now 14th, u still can tell us about cat's, maximas, & rentals...

Happiness depends on what happens. Dont wait for that, but decide to be happy, especially as an able maxima owner. Psalmist had a perspective when he wrote: LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am. (39:4)

I had to run some errands this morning and it was only a few miles into the trip that I remembered what it was like to be a Maxima owner. That and some Chicken McNuggets with my wife made everything better.
