sTEREO WIRES

Hey I need some help. I tried to switch cd headunits yesterday but ran into some problems. When I took the old headunit out, several of the wires connected to the connecting harness pulled out of the plastic clip. So bought a new one, but now I am not getting any power from the yellow memory wire. I had the wires tested as well as the headunit just to make sure and all power is good in all wires and unit except for the yellow memory wire. I checked the fuses(every single one) and they are fine. How can I fix this problem? Somebody told me I could run a wire from the fuse box or even the battery, straight to the stereo and just cap off the yellow wire from the connecting harness. But I dont want to do anything before I know for sure. Please help me out.

Yea the yellow wire is basically straight from the battery. You can run a new wire straight from the fuse box to the radio if you choose. He's a pick of what a 2000 civic fuse box under drivers feet looks like:

I circled the 4 extra ports honda gives you. Just use a voltmeter and figure out which one is a 12V constant all the time. Each port supplies power at differernt ignition key settings. Hope this helps.

you dont need it. its only memory wire. dont be lazy and just reset all setting everytime. J/K

You can run a wire directly to battery n/p just be safe and fuse it.Or like you said just run a wire to a fuse under dash that has constint power. Also could tap into cigarette power wire for power (my choice).

I've tapped into the cig lighter wire before and it was a pain. There was very little wire to work with. Just run a wire to the fuse box and put a female spade on the end to plug it in. Just that simple.

I just found out there's a back-up radio fuse under the hoods fuse box. It's a 7.5A fuse. That might have caused the radio wire to mess up. It's worth checking out.
