How hard is it to replace this sensor? Or, what can I expect to pay to have it replaced?

its about an hour job if you know where to look for it. It would probably cost about $150-$200 to pay someone to replace it

looking at the engine compartment from pass. side it is straight down the firewall on the tail of the transmission .regardless of what people say it is not a hard job, hardest part is getting the retaining bolt out as there's not much room. a stubby wrench is best to remove bolt and retaining clamp(it is held in place like the old distributers used to be). after removing clamp the sensor pulls straight out (be sure to wipe off any loose dirt before removal) part is 39.00 at ford is better to remove old one first as the money grubbing engineers designed several variations rather than commonising them and you would be smart to do side by side comparison before leaving.also there may be a heat shield blocking it from view when removing
you may find it easier to jack up the car remove the tire and try it that way depending on how small your hands are.
