well i got a bit of a problem with my headlights. ill be driving everything will be fine and they will just go out. my headlights will just turn off. sometimes they come back on right away other times they stay off for a while. but usualy they come back on. ive tried to find like a wiring problem or something but dont seem to see one. id rather not go to a dealership and pay hundreds to find out its a fuse that was broekn but when bumped it reconnects itself to complete a circuit or something lame and stupid like that. i do have a grand prix GTP. anyone else have this problem or heard of it before. lemmi know on your ideas. thanks alot

is it when your switch turned on or when its off when the DRL are on?

the headlights are not on a fuse. if a fuse goes out it will not come back on. headlight circuits are protected by a thermal relay that heats up when there is a fault and shuts off until it cools down and restores power to the lamps. if yours is cycling on and off it would indicate a wiring fault in the headlamp circuit. try removing the bulbs on at a time until the problem goes away to isolate the problem.
an old joke: do you know how GM stealership guy fixes a flat tire? he keeps changing tires until the problem goes away. then he puts the bad tire back on to make sure that was really the problem.

I had the same problem and it didn't matter about the DRL's or the switch being on/off.
The relay that erinc is talking about is in the underhood fuse box, but that's not the only place that a problem can occur...
I don't know if your wiring is the same, I have a 2000 GTP and there is a second fuse box on the right of the glovebox (with the gb door open). the circuit breaker for the headlamps was loose in this fusebox causing the lights to sometimes come on when I hit a bump or would pound the dash...other times they would stay off even though the fogs and parking lights would come on.
I put a little solder on the connectors and plugged the breaker back in...no problems in 7 mos.
Hope this helps and good luck...electrical gremlins will make you :banghead:
