How hot does coolant get?

im wondering because i have an old issue of honda tuning and i saw a 4g4door that had like that clear water hose stuff for his radiator hoses and just a clear tube for his resevoir tank. here are some pictures i took of the book, sorry i dont have a scanner.

well i work at lowes, so i figured i could get these fairly cheap, you think it would work?

i dont know a lot about these engines, but in our chevys which actually use real gauges (not h and l) they all run about 190-220 degrees

ok well i tried it, and i let it run for a while, well what happened was the hose started to swell, and it got kinda soft, it was real hard when i put it on there. so i dont think that it would last very long, maybe he had a different kind made specifically for high heat i guess.

well it wouldnt hurt to ask one of ur co-associates to what clear hose they got in stock that can withstand boiling temps..im sure u guys got them in stock

i'm sure you'll be able to eventually find clear heat resistant hose somewhere. i know that they make kitchen spatulas out of a type of heat resistant silicon and a lot of the packages say that they can take up to 700 degrees :eek:
