I can't get my 2002 Grand Prix SE to pass NYS inspection because the "service engine" light keeps coming on. When hooked up to diagnostic code machine...the Evap Codes P0443 and P0449 keep showing up. Is there a solution to this problem that won't cost me $500 at the dealer? Desperately need help!

P0443 is EVAP emission control system Purge Valve C fault.
P0449 is EVAP emission control system Vent Solenoid malfunction.
Best thing to do if check all vacuum lines going to the purge valve located at the engine intake and vent solenoid located at the evaporative charcoal cannister by the driver's side of the gas tank. Also check the electrical plug to each solenoid. So the possibilities are either the respective solenoids, the electrical connection or lack of proper vacuum.
Normally these type problems can be found DIY which will save you the outrageous cost at the dealer although the dealer will probably be able to diagnose the problem faster on a Tech II machine.
