Corolla vs. Civic

Currently I am in Asia. There are few if any traffic laws. Its completely crazy here. There really are no "fast cars" that I have seen. I am driving a fairly new corolla saloon, its RHD and I believe slower than the american version. Well anyway I was at a stop light tonight (which have timers that count down to green by the way) and a 94ish "type R" civic with a resonator exhaust tried to race me. My car is auto so all I did was floor it. I beat him, by the time we hit 110kph, although by only 5 or so feet. I then slowed up and he did the ricer flyby. This confirms the ricer flyby as a world wide phenomenon. It makes me laugh though that everything here has a typeR sticker (usually more than one typeR sticker in conjunction with other random stickers), this includes very old suzukiFXs, busses, and tractors.

I know its not much of a race but I thought that maybe someone would find it interesting at least. I get a kick out of driving over here. The kind of driving here would never be accepted back home.

Ah...See, when people say Asia, I usually think like Japan...I wouldn't think there would be any fast cars in Pakistan.

I would be surprised if there was much in common with here and japan. The lack of traffic laws is the craziest part. I don't even know why there are lines in the road.

that reminds me of when i was in brazil. i was at sau paulo for a few days before rio. i honestly dont understand how people can drive like they did and not die.

i know you can try to use AF to post them, go to gallery at the top of the screen, then log in and click upload photos, then find it with browse and click upload. then once youve uploaded it you can click on the picture in your gallery (called my gallery) and then you can copy the photo location that is right under it. theres a more detailed description of how to do this in the mustang section, its a sticky.

Not only is the driving crazy but it takes a few days to get used to the RHD and driving on the left side of the road. Like I can make a left on red not a right (if you choose to even stop, not like anyone else does). Its the little things that are hard to get used to.

the middle east isnt a continent! pakistan is in asia. his corolla is a freakin rental car, its not like hes modding it and saying he loves it. he even said its slow. i dont think people here said they hate corollas either, your putting words in peoples mouths, people here said they are slow, and they are. but they are great for gas milage and family car purposes. i dont think a lot of people would argue that point. and last but not least, he said it is right hand drive, not rear wheel drive.

Earthquake relief is the reason for being here actually. And yes its a rental. Another interesting piece of information, there is no insurance on cars over here.

Nope no insurance, when you get into an accident the police determine who is at fault and a deal must be struck between the owners of the two vehicals. They are very nice about it even if its their fault. Good business men actually.
