I just got my car back on the road after way too long, and a local evo guy down the street has been talking major trash. and wants to run heads up for $100. Since I ran him last time about 6 months ago, (I got him by about 2 cars) He got a EBC, xedy clutch, removed his cat, and thats all....
my mods are...
-profec b spec II 14.5 psi
-dejon tool y-pipe
-dejon tool turbo intake runners
-hks ssqv bov
-ek2 fuel rail loop
-3" 3sx downpipe
-3" test pipe
-3" ATR dual exhaust
-NGK BPR7ES plugs
-vac reduction
-egr blockoffs
-Just fixed ALL boost leaks
-and 1 of my 9b's is freshly rebuilt after being blown
Reason I'm asking is because I know nothing about the thoes cars... If he's got an EBC how much would be be able to boost this time around?? The only thing I'm positive about is that I KNOW I can outlaunch him even on my stock clutch, I saw him playing around with my buddies teg and he can not get a good launch down for anything...

haha, race him on the highway. Grant it, both of you have all-wheel drive and both of ya'll can get off the line very quick, so that will lend down to driver. However, your gearing is a bit longer, so after 100 mph, you should start walking away from him, even if ya'll are neck and neck by time ya'll get to 100.

Well, I looked up some numbers on the EVO:
Stock boost is 19psi
Max safe boost without mods is 21psi
OEM Fuel cutoff occurs at 24psi
Looks like from the factory Mitsubishi pushed the engine pretty much as far are it can go... You should be able to beat him if you beat him last time but just in case you don't, run him on the highway a few times "to get warmed up" and see if his engine blows...

I honestly think I have a better chance from a stop seeing as 9b's can't hold more then 11psi and higher rpms, he could probably hold 15-16 to redline but I'm not sure.

ah, thats some more good info, thanks..... I saw him last night at the gas station and were going to run the next time it's dry out, one time on the highway for nothing, then from a stop and thats the real race. So now I just have to wait for better weather =\

redline and MPH are 2 very different things. An EVO should get distroyed up top, just like a DSM. Also, the EVO would probably have a better chance from a stop because its lighter with a decent amount of power, and is still AWD. Up top it has to deal with the fact that its a box on wheels with low gearing.

So I should really have a better chance from say a 40 roll??

depends on what you go to, 40-140 you should beat him. If he cant launch like you say you shouldnt really have a problem no matter what, assuming you can.
