I have seen in a few other forums of guys who have found downloadable service manuals. I was just wondering if anyone has found any service manuals on-line. Anything for a 97 gtp would be great.

You can get a subscription here:

Also check EBay for the GM service manual either in paper or on CD. Periodically manuals for your model GP will show up. I got mine off of Ebay for a very reasonable cost/bid. Good luck!

I bought my set for my 99 (GM service manuals, all three) for $60 of e-bay. Haynes and Chiltons don't make one for models newer than 99. I have a Haynes manual that came with my 91 Grand Prix, it covers 88-99, but it's not real thorough.

Bob,
Why didn't tou email me. You know I have the 1997 service manual, on CD.
Thanks Jim. But the hardcopy version comes in handy too.
Do you still have any of yours or did you sell them. I recall you got one for '98 GPs off of EBay.

No you got them for me. I gave it to the girl that bought the GTX. Alone with filling the trunk up with spare parts, a PCU, you name it. That was the car I wishj someone on the site would have bought. I did ask.

you can get the Chilton Repair Guide on line for most vehicles free online at www.autozone.com. They also have a link where you can pay to get the factory sevice manual
I tried out the Mitchell repair guide once, what a waste of money that was.

What Chilton Repair Guide on line for free at Autozone are you referring to? Repair info? It's nice if you have a 1996 and under Grand Prix but doesn't help if you have a 1997 and up.

Haven't heard a word from her. Well she did call to ask how to get the trans unlock, when she forced it out of park. Told her I was never that dumb to do that.
I did tell her the right way. She ended up going to a tran place and paying $500.00. That's why I don't hear from her. She never even try to get it out. Dumb

We used to have one but it went non-op. For your 2002 GT it is best to get the specific model year. There are variations especially in the wiring diagrams and wiring color coding. However, generally the 97 manual can used for troubleshooting to include repair and replacement in a lot of areas.

yeah, the autozone repair info is the same as my Chilton manuals. word for word, pic for pic. and no they don't have all years online yet. haven't checked out the service manual subscription link yet, would like to get some feedback if anyone has. i tried the subscription Mitchell repair guide once. luckily i only paid for a 3 day subscription, wasn't worth 30 minutes in my opinion.

I thought the link for so called service manual data was to AllData DIY. The subscription runs about $25.00 per year. The problem is if you review for example wiring diagrams on a respective car model, it is not good enough and not as detailed or as specific as the real GM service manuals. Checkout the Demo Bonneville to see what AllData provides at link below. That is why a lot of us elect to spend the extra money and get something more beneficial. I had a subscription and did not renew. The bottom line is there is no comparison. The GM service manuals whether hard copy or CD are the best.
http://www.alldatadiy.com/
Mitchell makes good parts info guides for body repair shops and insurance companies, etc. Good for looking for a part such as a fender etc., seeing the GM list price and determining how many hours for replacement so you can generate a quote.
