Ok Im not sure which forum I should put this in, so if it is in the wrong place, mods could you please move it to the proper spot?

Now before I even start with my question, I already know most people are going to say leave up to the pro's, its not worth the money and BLAH BLAH, but honestly I would rather do it myself, instead of bringing to the someone else. I dont know, I just have this thing were I would rather screw up and learn something out of it, rather than not do it and not learn anything.

Ok so here it goes I have a 2004 Tiburon and I want to tint my windows. Now I have been doing some research on it and all, and got all kinds of info. So I guess my question is any help would be great, such as hints, tips and tricks. Also what kind of tint would you guys recommend?

Check out www.tintdude.com

I think 5% on the back windows and 50% on the side windows would be nice. 35% on the sides is even better. Check with your local laws on what is allowed, because you don't want to get pulled over and have to change your tint.

I just signed up on that forum, but it kinda seems like a Professional site. Here in Mass I can only have 35% on front, back, and back windshield, so that is what Im going to do, because the last thing I need to is the asshat mass cops to bother me. The cops over here have nothing better to do than sit on their asses eat and give STUPID pointless tickets. If I sound mad it is because I got a ticket for changing lanes without a blinker. Now I wouldnt mind the ticket IF SOMEONE WAS EVEN BEHIND ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The damn cop say me from the oncoming lane and turned around to ticket me. Now mind you this is at 330am and the only cars on the road are me and Donut man, I can only imagine what would happen if I had to dark of tint. Ok Im done venting sorry :)

You're only allowed 35% on the rear side windows, and on the back windows? That seems strict.

It's the same here in Tenn. 35% is the max limit for tint and no mirror tint allowed at all no matter what the percentage. Although most people don't care about that including myself and go alot darker. I have a 92 4 door cherokee that I just got done removing the crappy mirror tint job that was done before I bought it and I'm going to be putting on 2.5% tint either this weekend or next depends on when it's warmest and have the time. And as far as the windshield here in Tenn. if it's past the little line on the passenger side then they can ticket you for that but I usually tint the windshield halfway down. Usually with tint though depending on the color of your car you can go a little darker, like if you have a dark color car or black car you can usually go down to 20% and most cops won't say anything because it's not as much of a contrast as if the car was white.

2.5% will be nice and dark. What are you doing the side windows and windshield?

It's going to be 2.5% on all windows including a 10 in. wide strip across the windshield. When I tint my car's windows I don't want anyone seeing inside.

No it's not legal at least not on the front 2 doors. In Tenn. you can have any windows behind the driver and passenger door as dark as you want but the driver and passenger door can only be 35%. I used to have a 99 s10 extended cab with a camper top and full walkthrough done and had the two small windows in the extended cab and the back window of the camper top painted black so there was no seeing in or out of it except through the doors or windshield. But on the jeep I'm going to have 2.5% all the way around. It does make for a bitch driving at night as the tint is so dark but oh well I'm used to it though.

the nice thing you can do, since you have a SUV...

wire a relay inline with your reverse lights to power a set of aux lights on the back. then when you pop it in reverse, it will light up the area behind you better...

I honestly don't know a DAMN thing about tint except that they can't check a window that won't roll down, so go with my setup 35 on all four and 5% on the back, the darker back glass provides an illusion of your fronts being darker when they aren't actually, believe me, been there, done that, it works wonders!!!!

Usually darker glass doesnt give an illusion, it makes it darker. Which makes the % tint lower. IE if your glass is factory tint(inside the glass) at say 45, and you go and get the windows tinted at 30%. You actual % will be less than 35 because you alreayd had a form of tint.
