My '95 4x2 has the speed sensor adjacent to the speedo cable connector on the tranny extension ... wouldn't surprised me if yours is the same.

It's on the the top of rear axle.

I have a sensor on the rear axle also ... on my model, that sensor has something to do with the ABS.

xlt is right it is on top of the bell at the rear axle. i had a hard time finding it too ( autozone gave me the wrong part) but if you follow the electical on to the back axle it should be the only thing going to it. there will be a bolt hoding it down and when removed looks like a plug sort of and should have gear oil on it too! good luck!

Yeah, not the axle housing...but transmission extension housing(2WD) and on the Tcase(4WD). The appliction may depend on whether you have an electrically controlled gauge or a cable driven one. You may actually want to remove the old one so that they can cross reference the engineering number(if possible) to make sure they get the right one. My catalog only shows one listed but we have had descrepancies w/ speed sensor listings in the past. BTW...the sensor on the top of the rear diff housing is a 'speed' sensor, but it is really involved with the ABS...it is not a 'vehicle speed' sensor. PS - this is info right out of my Ford catalog at the dealer where I sell parts. Hope this helps. M.
