alternator replacement?

can somebody give me a walkthrough on how to replace an alternator. im gonna go to carquest or autozone and buy a rebuilt one and i would rather install myself. im not a total idiot whne it comes to cars but im also no mechanic, so try to take it easy on the auto lingo. thank you.

can somebody give me a walkthrough on how to replace an alternator. im gonna go to carquest or autozone and buy a rebuilt one and i would rather install myself. im not a total idiot whne it comes to cars but im also no mechanic, so try to take it easy on the auto lingo.Buy a Haynes manaul and follw it. It has very good directions and kind of a step by step. You have to take the alternator out through the top of the engine, which means you have to remove your upper intake manifold. Disengage the throttle body cable and disconnect some hoses and other things. I don't remember all that was done, but it takes a few hours.

Why are you replacing the alternator?
