Camaro advertising ideas

Another board I'm on has this thread today, and I thought it was a cool idea... my favorite idea that someone came up with SO FAR is this (he stole it from a friend of his, I'm stealing it from him)

rememeber the 4th gen commercial with the 2 kids guessing what cars were coming down the street from their window. well here's an updated version for the 5th gen.

2 guys in their mid 20s are in a garage with the door open working on a 1st gen Camaro. they start talking about games they used to play when they were kids and onre of them mentions the guessing game, when they could tell what car was coming down the street by the exhaust note. the other guy says something along the lines of there hasn't been any exciting cars in about x years (insert number of years it's been since 2002 for the year of the cars release). then in the distance, you hear something revving up as it comes down the street. both of the guys jump up like they saw a ghost. the slowly walk out the garage door just as the 5th gen is passing by. they turn and look at each other and one of them says "It's back." screen fades to black and a bowtie appears with CAMARO right in the middle of it. then under neath the words "The Legend Rises Again" slowly fade in.

hows that for a comeback commercial?

That one gave me goosebumps because that original commercial was awesome... why do I say that?

I have ALWAYS remembered that commercial for some reason, it just stuck with me, didn't remember why or what car it was for though... it was driving me crazy for years trying to think what movie/show that was in.

How about when they're guessing what car is going by, by listening to the exhaust they say 69 Camaro. When the car goes by we see the new Camaro. The guys look at eachother and say (1)I'm selling the house. (2)I'm getting another job. They say that while (1) is sticking a for sale sign in his yard. And (2) says it while he's looking in the want ads. Both of them do this as if they're in a hurry.

I don't know, it's all I could come up with.

remember, the main marketing enemy of the camaro is the imports,so heres my idea: a group of different kinds of imports are driving down a deserted city street in the middle of the night. weaving in and out all over the road like their tryin to find somewhere to hide. a few go down a side street, another backs into an alleyway. they're all runnin cause the new maro's right on their heels. then it does a 180 degree stop in the middle of the street and does donuts like its markin its teritory.:)

Sounds good. I do agree that lately Ford and GM fans have gotten closer, but that's only because we have a common enemy, the imports as you mentioned. But the Mustang has always been the #1 enemy of Camaro/Firebird. But like I said, I have grown to respect you guys more lately because we have an enemy that we both hate more than eachother. Plus we have the same beleif-CID and RWD. But that commercial sounds good I could see that. It would be cool to have it at night like the TA commercial was, just a cool effect.

If this helps... main competitors are the modern day "pony"-ish cars.

I see it as:
Mustang
Charger
Challenger
Skyline... when it hits our shores
350z
Audi S4, perhaps
A friend of mine says RX8

How about you see a Ford pick up pull up to a light and a giant rock falls from the sky and turns the middle of the trucks bed to a V. Then it rolls away from the light all wounded. Then a 5th gen Camaro pulls up to the same light behind it and as another rock goes to fall from the sky the Camaro smokes its way out of there before it hits and then it cuts to. "They may be built ford tough but were built Chevy bad ass".

How about.. you see 2 cars at a light, revving it up, it doesnt matter what cars they choose for the commerical as long as they're modern, well you see them take off, the camera pans over to an overhead front like view and to show them that they're going evenly, then the camera gets infront of the cars, showing them from the front and out of nowhere in the third lane you see headlights and they get closer and fast and then the camera stays there when you see the camaro coming, and the camera sticks on the Chevy Bowtie, and then it goes back to the others where you see the Camaro pass em up like they're standing still and leave em in the dust and the guys stop at a redlight where the camara goes to a side window view and you can see the guy's looking at each other like "The hell was that?"

Then black screen and you hear a car going full throttle in the background and slowly the letters "Camaro" show up

lol..ford would sue
i was on another board where we had this thread also
i said this
scene is at a carshow with a bunch of dead chevy cars belairs chevelles and camaro's and the such then you hear music in the background distant music. 50's 60's cheesy music.........they all have plaque under the hood that is propped up saying birth and death date ..show the camaro plaque 1967-2002 you hear a great rumble with rock music starting to play the plaque falls off the camaro you hear tire sqeelin and see alot of smoke. the camaro slides sideways and the camera zooms in on the "CAMARO" emblem then you can add the same ending as said above , thats pretty good

So you have a camera and wa wa wah and then they blabi bla blah and then this the scrombie scra scram and then you hear the camaro :eek7:. Sorry I must be over tired cause my mind was playing checkers while I kept trying to read that, but I am sure it was very good Rally, you are creative. I know by your sigs but thats why I found it so annoying I couldn't focus on what was going on.

Yeah I just kinda went into detail alot.. like messing with the camera.. to give you a better deal of whats going on.

Cliffnotes for that: 2 guys racing, Camaro passes em up and then black screen and the word "Camaro" fades into the screen.

simple is good lol....i like that one commercial for that one damn truck i think that i cant remember what it was....but it pulls up nose to nose to that other one damn truck and it pees....should have a new camaro pull up to the new mustang and have it do that.......i know someone out there knows what im talking about

It's a stormy night, LIGHTNING, then THUNDER. Horses are out running wild out in the open fields. Then the Camaro comes up along side of the horses and turns left and the horses turn left. More lightning, more thunder. Camaro ducks behind the horses and comes up on the other side of the horses and turns right, then the horses turn right. More lightning, more thunder. Then the horses run into a coral or big fenced area and the Camaro does doughnuts and slides as if it was the gate shutting closed. Then you hear a voice say "trying to round up some ponies? Camaro, no problem".

Its a Mitsu or Nissan truck commercial.. it climbs up the mountain, meets up with its concept to signify the "the competition" and obviously a safe way to not get sued, but like it revs up to it and the concept blows a hose and water comes out like it pissed it self, yeah thats it. But that's really copying.. these are suppost to be NEW ones.

guy buys new camaro...takes ls2 out and puts in his 98-02 4th gen...rid self of new concept camaro and says "the ls2...only thing the new camaro has going for it".......but seriously tho....i hate that active fuel management or whatever its called....i'd like it a lot more if it had the power all the time

Dude.. its power on demand, its totally good. And I havent driven one of the new cars with that but im sure it doesnt like hesitate or something and it's smooth like you wont even notice when it does it, but your MPGs will.

I would much rather have that in my car than the new PCM;s that keep track of your driving habits. Cause you know its just a matter of time before Law enforcement pulls you over then plugs into your PCM. To know when you were not wearing your seat belt or what speed you got up to from your last complete stop. or your dealer refuses to honor your warranty cause your had too many open throttles launches to a hundred. Technology is getting to the point where its going to invade on your right to be a dumb ass.

yeah i agree that would suck....but in my opinion its just one more thing to mess up and one more thing to have to pay to have it bypassed.....like cags....under light acceleration that helped gas mileage but everyone paid $ to have it disabled....i could see that more for saving gas in a family car but i want the power all the time in a sports car...its exactly that a sports car, gas mileage isnt an issue to me....just my 2 cents.

if technology gets that advanced you would have to tie your self to your bed or something to keep yourself out of trouble... :icon16:

Too much like that new-ish Castrol commercial...

and as for active fuel management why would you even want it disabled? The more power YOU want the more throttle you push... th more throttle you push the more power is available. CAGS was retarted, but this has nowhere near the same effect as cags/skip shift, locking out gears so under light throttle you could only shift from 1st to 4th. This just basically cuts cylinders otu when you are under light throttle and can do without them... reactivates them when you want it... wtf are you smokin??? lol

I would have someone driving a 1969 Sunoco Camaro Z/28
(from the Trans-Am Series) racing around Laguna Seca and then show Olivier Beretta (races a factory 590 hp Corvette C6-R race car) driving the new Z/28 very fast around Laguna Seca. They should also show pictures of the new Camaro's chassis.

I hope Chevy races the new Camaro.

I think the perfect ad has to have all of the generations, maybe the pacecars. All of the commercials said so far are too cocky. It needs to just display the point the new camaro is awesome and will own everything else.

Didnt dodge have the fuel management thing during the 80's? I have heard about it before.

something makes me think cadilac had a system thatsshut down 2 cylinders or something..but oil couldnt get to places and the engine made the top 10 worst engines ever...its a good idea...when it works...but my dad has a good point about all this technology.its fine when it works..but what are you gonna do when you are on a road in the middle of no where miles in every direction and it quits??..you will wish you had a 1967 camaro or something..that most problems could be fixed with basic hand tools

ZR1's use to have a passkey system where you could turn the power down from like 405 to 250 for around town driving.

Jcrane, what do you mean and it quits?

Jcrane88
01-12-2006, 06:07 PM
quits working..aka dies....all the new technology going into cars these days is amazing displacment on demand..variable valve timing..fuel injection..drive-by-wire...is great stuff.. far superior to what we had 30 years ago...but when these elctronic gadgets bite the dirt..its so hard for the do-it-yourselfer.. anymore..as opposed to say a 1967 camaro..which is mainly mechanical....a few weeks ago the fuel pump in our 95 caravan quit..and you cant just buy the fuel pump..you have to buy the gauge sender..everything everything thats goes into the tank..and it cost $200!...as opposed to a cheap mechanical pump..that was reliable and when you need to change one you can do it on the side of the road in 1/2 a hour or less on the side of the block and much cheaper than $200 in the tank....a guy at napa was telling us that some vehicles now have the filter in the tank..and when the filter goes bad they change everything..fuel pump, sender, filter etc everything in the tank........dont get me wrong i love fuel injection and displacement on demand..things to work more efficently, better emission the such...just what do you do when it breaks? im still getin the new camaro!

666_speed
01-12-2006, 07:00 PM
i agree with that completley....the new stuff is nice...but totally sucks when it breaks...id be a lot happier without a lot of the little stuff namely active fuel management cos i've been griping about that earlier in this case
