Anyone wanna sell old Integra speakers?

Anyone out there who has replaced their factory speakers want to sell them? I have a '94 GSR 2door with that I assume is the "premium" sound system. It has tweeters in the top of the door and what looks to be about a 6" speaker in the bottom of the door. I am looking for a pair of good working order lower door speakers, and if the price is reasonable, I'd by the whole set.

Please email me if you do,

todd@netcentral.net

Thanks!

I have a 95 GSR and i have the speakers out of them. How much were you looking to spend on 2? How about all 4?

do yourself a favor and buy the cheapest aftermarket 6.5's you can find. they will be worlds better than the stock speakers. i bought a pair of pioneers from best buy and installed them myself, and they are a whole hell of a lot better than the factory speakers. you can wire the tweeter in parallel with the new speaker to get both to work at once. (i replaced my factory head unit and it works fine, i dont know about the factory unit). http://integra.cyberglobe.net/ is a good site for integra specific installs.
good luck

how does wiring the tweeter in parallel work I never understood that. dont you need a cross over to get just highs out of the tweeter?

Wiring 2 speakers that are 4 ohms in parallel will make the effective resistance equal to 2 ohms. This is done to get the most current out of good amps and speakers, makes them louder. The thing is you have to be carefull. If you have lower grade equipement, speakers and amps you will burn it all up due to the fact that the current that is drawn will blow the speakers and the power transistors in the amp. Hope this helps.

You will need a cross over to separate the frequencies if you want accurate sound. Some amps and decks have them built in but for really good sound you'll have to get good cross overs. If your using deck power don't worry about all that.

In case your wondering I have an Alpine, 4 channel Phonix Gold Amp running tweets and 6.5 in the doors, after market speakers and cross overs, and a Phonix Gold 10" in a box running in mono. It's not huge but sounds great to my ears.

i have a feeling that neither the factory 6.5 or the factory tweeter are 4 ohm. the reason i say this is that the factory head unit powered both with only one channel, and i highly doubt it was able to run at 2 ohms. :silly2: i'm running the stock tweeters with my bestbuy 6.5's and the tweeters dont distort at all . but i must confess i am running the setup from a crossfire amp that has a nice crossover built in. but that doesnt change the fact that plenty of mid-range signal is reaching the tweeter (and still has no distortion that i can hear over my bass)

anyway, back on topic, buy better speakers!

Actually, the factory tweeter does have a crossover wired to it. If you look closely when you have it out, there's a small capacitor wired across the terminals. It's not really there as much as true high-pass crossover, more of a protection circuit to block the lower frequencies and keep the tweeter from overheating.

Neither the full range 6.5 or tweeter is 4 ohms. Wired in parallel, they are approximately 4 ohms. I suspect the full range is very close to 4, with the tweeter being much higher. That would also suggest that most of the current is drawn by the full/midrange driver, as would be expected.

If I had my hands on the original speakers, I'd be more than happy to give them away. They've been out of the car for a long long time.
