93 Talon DL cuts out, engine light comes on

Sometimes when I'm driving, my 93 Talon DL cuts out (it's a five speed, so it bucks a bit, depending on what gear it's in) for a second and the engine lights comes on for maybe 3-5 econds. I hear a sharp click from somewhere near the center console--could be behind the dash, I can't tell. It happens a few times each day, and the other day it happened when I had just put the clutch in to shift from reverse to 1st, and the car stalled, which leads me to wonder if it stalls all the other times but re-starts because the car is moving and the clutch is out. Any ideas?
