I think I may need to replace my starter. Has anyone out there done this with the 3.8 motor? Is it a difficult job?

It is not that difficult but you will be working from underneath the driver's side of the car. Before starting disconnect both negative and positive cables to the battery. Jack up driver's side of car. Use jackstand for safety. Remove any plastic trim pieces/splash shields underneath in the way of accessing starter. Remove nuts from two cables, 12v input from battery at solenoid and solenoid S input cable. I recall two bolts secure the starter assembly. Also check for shims when removing starter and if shims are present make sure they are installed at the same spot. Installation is reverse of above.

Starter mounting bolts should be torqued to around 32 ft-lbs. Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I narrowed it down to a dead battery today though and had that replaced at Sears. I will keep this info handy though for when my starter does eventually go out.
