Hi I have a 99 T/A. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with shift kits. I'm looking to get the best shift kit possible. I want better performance, but it is also my daily driver car as well. Just looking for a good combination that isnt too hard on my car but will really make a difference in performance.

They are not hard on your car, they actuly extend the life of your tranny. Trans go is an all around good kit to get. What tranny you have? the 4L80e?

As far as i know they help reduce slippage and heat in effect helping your tranny live longer. They also improve your cars shifting as well i beleive

They use higher pressure springs and larger plate opening to allow for higher fluid pressure. So that when the next gear engages. It does it with some kick and he has the 4L60-e and the transgo is the best one I have seen on the market and the one I went with. Really wakes the auto up. Also might want to think about a corvette servo and stall in the near future as well. Those parts compliment each other very well.

Thx for the help. I really want to take a look at some prices for the transgo kit. Do you know of any good places to purchase it from? I have found prices to be on avg about $125.

And also you said that I sould look into a "corvette servo". Im not sure what this does or if It would be better to go with a stock corvette one or an aftermarket one. I know it is in the transmission and has to do with the shift speed and that I think there is two. Which one(s) would I switch, and what servo should I use? Also if you could give me a few places to purchase them from would be awesome! Thanks again for all your help!

you can get the trans go shift kit for around $80 and the vette servo for around $12 at oregon performance transmission http://stores.ebay.com/Oregon-Performance-Transmission

I'd go with the shift kit and an overdrive servo first, than if you want the 1 - 2 shift firmer get a vette servo.
I had a vette servo in my truck, the servo and a shift kit together might be a little to firm for street driving :2cents: unless you like getting your neck snapped back and beaking the tires loose when it shifts :evillol:

edit I reread you post, the corvette servo has more apply area than the stock sevo this gives you a quicker, firmer shift.

I agree, ebay is a good place to look. I also buy from www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com) alot. They are usually pretty competively priced and ship very fast and only charge a 8.95 handling fee. No shipping charge Also if you find the shift kit for a lowe price somewhere else they will match it. Also he is correct. The Corvette servo will give you a firmer quicker 1 -2 shift.

Another thing that wakes up that tranny and is good to get it a high stall torqe converter. Along with rear gears.
