99 is OBDII, OBDI was pre-96 (except in California, where II started in 95). the newer you get, the more its gonna be controlled/regulated by the computer/ecu, which can cause problems if you plan on doing any tuning (especially if you are in a state that has an emissions test). personally i'd go for OBD0 or OBD1, although i think i heard something about vtec being stronger with I or II as opposed to 0 or I...

If you swicth to obd1. You can do a hell of alot more to you car. esp if you are going to do a turbo or supercharger. obd1 you can elimanate o2 sensors, cat, ex. And it is a lot easier to fine tune it. My body has a built 99si from bottom up. It was built by vortec. The put the vortec supercharger on it. It dyno at 386whp. He swicth to obd1, remove 02 sensors, cat, and put a staight 3' exshaust on it. He took the charger off, and turbo it at 25 psi, and obd1. he has 562whp. But if you have a emissions test you really can't pass it if you go to obd1
