ive heard of people getting a catback exhaust for the escort. is this a good exhaust or are there better exhaust systems to get? is the catback like the tip or the whole exhaust from engine to the bacxk of the car? also how much would a catback go for?

thanks

A catback exhaust is not a certain brand ( that I ever heard of ) but it is a common expression for " replacing the complete exhaust system from the "catalytic convertor to the back". The factory exhaust is what I buy because it is stainless steel. I have a 94 with original muffler. I had to replace the pipe from the cat. to the muffler every 5-6 years due to the weak point being the flex pipe. This year the flex went for the second time so I went to the parts source, bought a replacement fllex and had Midas mig weld it to the old pipe. We will see how it lasts. My total cost was about $100.00. Good Luck

get a 2.25in mandrel bent exhaust....you migth have to get one custom done, im not sure of a place that makes them for older escorts.

will cost about $400 range depending on shop.

and many places will make the exhaust out of stainless steel

I have a 94 EGT with a 1.8L DOHC and i have put a full 2 1/2" strait pipe exhaust with a high performance muffler. it's really loud but it makes a hell of a diff. i would go with a header and maybe 2 resignators on it to quite it down. you will feel the diff.
