1990 4runner

Can anyone tell me how to identify the E-17 ground splice? I find whie with red wires, green with re, and all white. I'll probably just clean and solder all of them ...Am trying to fix kicking in and out of overdrive Is All engine out ther? Sounded like he has fixed this problem. Pretty desperate been to 3 Toyota shops with no results on repair. Thanks Bruce
