Trunk Lid Garnish Removal 1997 Corolla

Hey Guys,

I was trying to remove the trunk lock cylinder (where the key goes in) as it is jammed, and somehow i decided to take the garnish (the grey piece on the lid on which corolla is written) to help me take the lock cylinder out, and hence i could either fix it or install a new one. However, there are 4 nuts that need to be removed to get the garnish loose, but there are plenty of clips/hooks that need to be slipped out, and i have no idea how to do it. I wonder if i pull the garnish out, will the plastic clips break? is there is a specific way like sliding it or anything to get the garnish out?
Also if the key is unable to rotate the lock, is the only thing to do is replace it?
I would appreciate a reply. Any pictures would be a bonus.
Thanks

For the keylock being jammed. Look at the lock assembly, there are rods that connects to a clips. Check if any rods are out of the clips. If not, take the lock cylinder to a local lock smith/key duplicator and they could fix it. I had mine done for less than $10
Good luck
