Does anybody know of any good performance garages willing to work on a 99 Neon R/T in Michigan? I'm completely stock right now, and thinking of starting off with a cold air intake. I went to a dealership for a price on a mopar CAI and got the price of $330! Anybody know any cheaper, but but effective brands for CAIs?

Well I recommend doing most of the work yourself if you can. A garage will charge you up the a*s to do some of this work, even though it doesnt take very long. Take a look at www.howellautomotive.com they have a pretty good selection of neon perf. parts and fair prices. Only take it to a shop for big stuff, like internals port and polish etc. Just my opinion.

Take a look at www.howellautomotive.comI would ask them if they have the parts in stock before purchasing. They don't have real great customer service. Modern Performance (http://www.modernperformance.com/) has great prices and great customer service.
If you are just starting out modding, most people go with the CAI, UDP, and exhaust for their neon. The CAI and UDP will help, upgrading the exhaust is a waste of money on the neon as the DOHC exhaust flows great from the factory. Maybe install a header get a bigger TB, if you have a manual, then install an ATX TB. The neon is very easy to work on and you can do most things yourself. Get you some type of manual like Haynes or Chiltons and read through it. You will see how simple most jobs can be. There is a saying that goes, "neons, turning ordinary people into mechanics since 1995!" Somewhat true!
On another note, you can make your own CAI with a 3.0L intake tube from a mid-90 caravan for like $50. Cheap but effective mod. If you feel like spending the money, then the Iceman CAI can be bought for about $200 and is the best intake for the neon.
