Ok, so I'm getting a civic...

Alright guys, I have a 1990 eagle talon with a blown engine that is being fully built over the next year or so, and I need a "beater" for now. The obvious choice was a honda because of their undisputed reliability. So I found a 1994 civic sedan for around $500. It runs fine, but has high miles (190,XXX single owner though), I don't want to really spend much money on it, but I would like something a bit fun to drive while the talon is down. If anyone has any suggestions of little more fun to drive without decreasing reliability I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Dude that's a really good deal. You should get the civic especially with those miles and that price. I have a 93 Civic EX and it has 265k miles and it runs like it was brand new. I paid 1600 for it. Plus they are very easy to work on unlike that Talon of yours.

simple things tune up I/H/E if its just a beater i'd avoid things like a mini me and F/I even though its great bang for buck.

Suspension would be a good idea. If it handles better, you'll have more fun driving it.

Yeah, I know its a great deal. I just have to hope it doesnt get sold out from under me by friday. Thats basically what I thought, just an intake and exhaust. I assume that the H meant headers (new to honda terms), so I'll look into that also. Now, I know you are all mostly honda tuners so I will probably get a biased answer, but do you guys think that modifying it at all (I don't care about looks) is worth it? Or are the intake and exhaust just minimal horsepower gains that aren't really noticable. Thanks for all the quick replies guys.

How capable are the sedans of handling well. I mean, sure its light, but its still not that small.

Still can handle quite well for what they are.

You guys are too much with the mod crap. The cars are fantastic as is. Once you start moding them you start to enter a world where mechanics opt not to help you any more. The car as manufactured is sweet, fun to drive, easy to fix in most cases and I wouldn't change a thing.

we're too much into the mod crap because that car is slow, but very reliable....why not have it be a little quicker, better handling and still reliable??
Check the sig....i like speed...

Who needs mechanics if you have friends who are mechanics? :D People who can't fix things themselves, don't have someone knowledgable who can help, or don't have the $ and availability of a good local tuner shop; shouldn't be moding their cars in the first place. No, scratch that...they should buy better cars that don't need to modified. Mechanics rip you off anyways.

I wasn't talking about any modifications that could decrease the reliability, I asked for little thing that would make it more fun to drive. I was expecting maybe an intake, exhaust, short shifter, etc. Nothing big, just want to liven it up a bit.

Then basic bolt-ons are it (intake, header, exhaust, suspension). Anything else like upgraded engine internals of forced induction will cause more wear and tear.
