'04 TB - Ipod and Siruis Installation?

All,

Long time Trailblazer owner, first time poster. I'm sure these questions may have been beaten to death, but I need to ask them one more time. I have a 2004 LTZ Trailblazer (actually LTZ may not be the correct letters, as I always forget when I'm not looking at my car - in any case, its the edition with the leather seats, sunroof, all the good stuff). I have the factory Bose system with the 6 cd changer and the 2 XM bands built in.

Anyway, I'm looking to change to Sirius (All the NCAA and NFL games and Howard? Too much to pass on in my opinion). Is it possible to switch the built in XM signal to Sirius without having to change anything on the outside of the radio? From some quick research, it appears it is, although opinions seem to differ on how to best do this. Is there a consensus opinion? I don't want to get the FM modulator, as I don't think the sound is very clear.

In addition, I would like to somehow connect my Ipod, again without having to use an FM modulator. I currently have the wireless modulator, and, honestly, hate how it sounds. My radio does have a cd/aux button, so I'm assuming I can connect the Ipod somehow. Any suggestions?

Finally, I believe I read somewhere where there is a software upgrade that will allow you to play mp3's in the cd player. Is this accurate?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can clear up these questions.

Welcome!

Since you have XM and the changer, there will be no way you can hook up your iPod unless you disconect XM and do not hook anything else up.

The only way to do this, I know from experience, 02 TB with changer and Bose, is to use a FM Modulator. I tried a wireless one, utter crap. Spent $60 on a hardwired one, and it works great! I guarentee you cannot tell a difference between it and most radio stations. The sound is much better than with the wireless one. Check out www.crutchfield.com for them, I got the Scoshe one and the proper adapter for GM cars.

As for XM->Sirius, dont know yet, but some people on www.TrailVoy.com are wondering the same thing. Tell them ScarabEpic22 sent ya!
