ridiculous vehicles...

WHY on earth do car manufacturers think I need a car that provides aroma-therapy synced to my CD player?!?!?! Can't they just make regular cars anymore?! I don't need a vehicle that smiles at me or takes my rectal temperature! I need a car with an engine, four wheels and a stereo. That's it.

They are constantly coming up with the most wholly assinine concepts for new vehicles. Why do they feel that I would be interested in their useless features?!

And, it doesn't help that ALOT of concept cars are uglier than sin.

a lot of far out concept cars you see arent really "about" being pretty, but rather a shell to display new technology

I'd enjoy having a scent maker in my car, though I wouldn't pay extra for it.

What I hate is all the gizmo crap that makes a car into a Playstation (cough*M5*cough). I already have a Playstation.

i was watching a show tonight about concept cars. one of the ones showcased was the new "presto". "have you found the perfect parking spot but your car is just a little too big? then presto is for you! just push a button and your car will contract to make you fit into that spot!" in short, the car slides together and goes from a 4 seater to a 2 seater. hopefully you remember if there's someone in the backseat before you push the button... :screwy:

another guy said he'll build anyone their custom concept car if they give him "a few hundred thousand"

Kinda similiar to what happend with trucks. Used to be, hey, a truck, only farmers/ranchers drive trucks, I don't want one of those. They use to just have engine, wheels, and all things needed it to move, and that was about it. There was nothin pretty or nifty about one. Now all the crap that trucks have price them WAY outa the average farmers budget. They just need to have a stripper truck without all the fancy crap, that just goes and has good reliablilty thats cheaper, for us people who use them for their intended purpose.

like the windshield wipers that turn themselves on when they sense rain? And the commercial cracked me up. It was like "yeah it only takes a tenth of a second to turn them on, but that's a tenth of a second you've just wasted." WTF?! THATS the best they can do?

IF IT DOESNT HOVER, ITS WORTHLESS.

no joke. I was like, OK, so if you're not spending that 5th of a second turning on your wipers, are you REALLY spending it with your family? no...... YOU'RE STILL FUCKING DRIVING. deuschbags.

get ready for this one, then: at the Tokyo Motor Show 2005, along many other ridiculous cars unveiled, here's one that'll just make you say "Why???"

Introducing the Honda Wonderful Open-hearted Wagon, or Honda W.o.W. (yes, that's its name)

you'd be surprised how stripped down you can actually get trucks. when i worked for the BLM last summer, the trucks i drove didn't have power windows, power locks, they were all manual tranmissions. some didn't even have tape decks, and these were brand new f-150s too.
i don't know if that's a special deal that government agencies get for cheap vehicles or if regular customers can get the stripped down versions too.

not that this has anything to with the thread. i just thought i'd throw that in there

that's fairly usual for most car makers. if you go to the mercedes production plant in germany you can choose every specification of your new car, there've been customers to order a S65 (long wheelbase) and have non-power windows, cloth seats, no air conditioning and power seats and just about everything really basic. (well, as basic as a mercedes gets)
