Looking for Performance Chip

I was looking into getting a chip for my 02 gt. I dont really know much about them or any types of brands. Of course I just want the most power. If anyone has any suggestions or websites that I can look and read up on the chips would be a great help. thanks alot.
Also, I just installed intake on my car and I unplugged the Air Intake Sensor. My "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Will that turn of after a couple starts or what? I made sure that it was all plugged back in correctly. thanks so much

The SES light may go off after a few drive cycles on IAT DTC errors. If not you will need a odb-ii scanner to perform a reset which will clear all DTC codes and the SES light.

I looked at the website, and I think that I want the one that just replaces the original pcm. The one for $214.00. Is that hard to install or would I have to take it somewhere to have it done? Also, is 8-12 HP worth the $214.00?

The DHP is a good one. A lot of us use it. Not hard to install. I'd classify it as DIY. It is located in the airbox which will require disassembly of the air box. There is an 80 pin electrical connector that needs to be loosened. Then just secure the PCM in which re-location will be limited by the wiring harness.
It is a great mod and worth it. It opens the door for other mods due to the re-programmed parameters (timing and advance), shift points and cooling fan turn on point, etc.
It is recommended to have a crank variation learn done with a new PCM which can only be done at the GM dealer.

OK. Well it seems pretty easy, and if a lot of people have it then im sure it must be pretty good. What is the crank variation that is recommended? Also, Why do you need to use 91 plus octane fuel with the new pcm?

Correct me if im wrong AF Fanatics, but u need a higher octane fuel because it burns slower. The DHP PCM advances the spark timing, which means the spark plug will fire about 3' before it usually did. If you used 87 octane (which burns faster than 91 or 93) than will cause the gasses to burn up too fast. This could cause premature combustion and knock.

There is only one case learn that the dealer can perform. They hook up to a Tech II machine and run crank angle position at low and high rpm and then burn that into the memory of the PCM. It is a one time thing.
Higher octane fuel because the timing is advanced in the re-programmed PCM along with other settings. The stock PCM is de-tuned for economy and emissions. Plus DHP makes it mandatory in their disclaimer.
The new PCM will open the door for other mods such as intake and exhaust so that you will be able to take full advantage with limited restrictions. Good luck in your decision.
