96 Vulcan oil pan gasket quick fix?

My daughter's 96 Taurus w/vulcan (229,000 miles) suddenly began leaking oil out of the front of the pan next to the fan belt. The rubber gasket had worked loose and is very pliable, so I was able to jiggle/push it back in. The leak stopped.
Question is, if I was to loosen maybe the two or three bolts on either side of the gasket, can I push it all the way in, retighten, and be home free?
Seems too easy, too inexpensive. Has anyone successfully done this???

On my old 2001 ses vulcan and my dads 97 GL vulcan, weve had this done each twice. Common issue with this model. The final time there was finally a new gasket design which clips into place. If it slipped out once, it will most likely slip out again. you can probably loosen it up but it may not seal correctly where it was loosesed and will probably pop out again anyway. Problem is that the y-pipe needs to be removed to replace the gasket entirely. with that many miles the bolts on that will surely break when removing. Removal is best, unless you want to keep "stuffing" every once and a while. hope that helps.

Thanks for the help, Joe. I'll probably try stuffing it and look for a way to jig a clamp on the end. It's a school car, rarely taken out of town.
